A real look at Adoption

We do not enter into this process lightly. Take a peek into the world of adoption. You may learn that there is so much more involved than you originally thought.

Snow Day!
With the blizzard over, we had a great time playing in the snow this morning!!!!
Making snow angels! |
Building a snowman
Settling for building a "mountain" |
It's not the beach but we still had a blast! |
Hot cocoa after! |
We can't wait to share such fun times with our future little one. What beautiful memories we hope to make.

Hope for 2016
With the nursery ready and our Home Study complete, all we can do is wait... and HOPE.
The new year brought an interesting turns of events. In the beginning of this journey we heard stories from adoptive parents about getting THAT phone call, hearing the details of a possible match and unfortunately having to turn down the opportunity. It was crazy to us to think that you could turn down any phone call. Beggars can't be choosers - right?
And now here we are in the same situation. We got our first call last week. It was exciting and unexpected but after hearing the details we found ourselves having to say no. There were many reasons for making this decision: financial, geographical and legal. Not to mention a few more that will remain private to protect all involved.
Emotions have been running high. It's incredible how attached you can get to a situation with only a few details. In our minds we were trying to piece together a game plan that would work. However, our advocate assured us that we should always go with our gut and not second guess those feelings. But how do we know we will get another call? Well, in all honesty, we don't. But we have HOPE.
Hope that the birthmother and baby involved in that case find the perfect match for them. And hope that our little one is still out there looking for us. We hope for a future filled with good news and happiness.
